The PostBus (locally known as Postauto) is one of the major pillars of the Swiss public transport system. For 110 years, the yellow busses (which originally delivered mail and still do so in some communities) have transported people to the most outlying bits of Switzerland. They have become crucial lifelines for metropolitan regions and mountain villages alike and are way more than just simple means of transport. Since there are PostBus routes in all parts of the country, my plan is to connect them with the goal of circumnavigating Switzerland (and covering the few gaps in the network on foot). Ideally, the yellow busses will not only take me to Switzerland’s well-known touristic hotspots, but also to the hidden jewels of our country.
An extremely beautiful journey awaits, as the slideshow above already shows. So come along for the ride by browsing through the blog posts below. While I won’t be able to translate all of the website, there will at least be an english summary at the beginning of each blog post. And I do hope that the photographs will speak for themselves…!
New blog posts will be published every week starting from August 1st, 2019.
